How to Make Your Home Summer Ready

With summer getting warmer and the chance to throw open your windows and doors onto the garden to let the warm, breezy air in, why not give your home a special summer update.  Here are some simple ideas to give your home a summer-ready update.

Add bold cushions in bright summer colour fabrics

A really effective and simple way of making your home summer-ready is to add cushions that have bright, summery colours that add a splash of summer colour. Choose hot and bold reds, purples and pink coloured cushions. You could also add citrus colours such as lime green, bright yellow and orange colours to add a zing to your sofas and chairs. Pastel colours in light pink, lilac, cream, ivory and lemon yellow will also work well.  Consider lovely summery prints and bold patterns too including butterflies, flower prints, leaves and trees.

You can also simply and effectively add bright summer colour throws on your chairs and sofas which will instantly change the colour and look of your seating areas.

Swap out your curtains with summer fabrics

Why not consider installing summer curtains and blinds for the summer season and then change them back for the onset of the autumn and winter season?

Summer blinds and curtains can be lighter in fabrics to echo the warm weather and lighter evenings. Summer colours could include pastels, white and cream or the bold and hot colours such as strong pinks and yellows. You could choose sheerer and lighter linen and cotton fabrics that give a translucent effect. Go for summery inspired prints such as birds, flowers, light textures, stripes in candy colours and pastel prints. There is so much to choose from.

We stock a wide range of plain and patterned summer fabrics that are ideal for all types of curtains, blinds and soft furnishings.

Hang Artwork

When was the last time you swapped out the artwork on your walls? Why not change the prints or originals on your wall to summery statement pieces and subjects such as flowers, birds and summer landscapes. You could also opt for bold abstract artwork which splashes of brilliant colours to brighten up your room. Hanging new art pieces around your home will give it an instant update and add interest.

Update your bedroom

Another room to update is your bedroom with new, summery bedding and bedroom accessories.

Choose summery and light bedding in cottons and cambric materials with light designs or bold designs to make a statement. Add bed cushions and bolsters in similar light fabrics to add comfort and sophistication. Swap out your sheets with breathable Egyptian cotton sheets to add comfort in the hot and balmy evenings.

Add flowers and plants

Summer is the season for gorgeous flowers and plants so what better than to bring them inside and brighten up your interiors! Create a floral arrangement in a pretty, large vase in your favourite room, and add flowers to your bedroom for that summer touch. Green plants with large fronds, such as tall palm plants, are also all the rage and add an exotic feel. Use large planter pots that give sophistication and character to your room.
